Returning to my roots (sort of)

My first fly rod was a Fenwick FF755, which I purchased in the early 70's.  Because I am not a collector of equipment, particularly if it goes unused for long periods of time and there is something else I'd like to buy, I sold it and purchased a Fenwick HMG GFF755 (which I still have and occasionally use).  Recently I became interested in fishing with fiberglass again and have tried to find an FF755 for a reasonable price.  Although I did find one, for a more acceptable price I found and purchased an FF705 (pictured below).  While it is 6 inches shorter, I'm sure that the experience of returning to glass will be just as rewarding.  Thanks to PayPal it's on its way from PA right now.

  2. I've just started looking into glass rods. I have a buddy in our fishing club who let me try a few rods to see which one I liked. The 705 has been my favorite so far. The guy told me he paid $50 for the rod years ago. Well a lot has changed in just a few years. I haven't seen one under $100. The one you bought looks really good. I like how it has the Fenwick case and the flannel sock. Neat.

  3. Fenwick are the finest things for collecting and they fish great too. I own a ff909 ff858-5 8586-5 an fl109-10wt (Fenwick blanks same great rod 40$ price tag.) and I also got a wet fly tape phillipson. Man I love me my fiberglass rods.

    1. I just purchased an FF605 as well. I can't wait to try that on the small streams that we frequent.
