And again...

This time the stream was running very clear.  I believe that I caught the same fish from my first post on this stream.  Initially it hit a GO2 hare's ear nymph (a pattern by Rick Takahashi) but fell off quickly.  Because it was kind of a tricky drift I opted to try a dry fly and see if it would react.  I tied on a variation of the Hemingway caddis (black body and med dun hackle) and darned if it didn't take it just as I started to retrieve it at the end of the drift.  Although I saw a couple more fish, this one was the only catch of the day.  I definitely can't complain.

  1. Its totally the same trout, you're right! spot patterns are the same, in fact, it appears that some of his red spots have come to show better in this second time at hand! (its a better photo too) Nice catch on the dry!

    1. It's the only fish I've seen in this pool. That doesn't mean there aren't others, but this is the one that seems to like me. Funny stuff. I'm going to have to leave it alone or it will become too smart to catch.

  2. Nice going Kirk, if I had been better attention to the weather perdictions I would have tried to sneak out yesterday afternoon. Looking likes a few more days of tying ahead ?
